Reflect privacy addendum

Reflect is an AI you can talk things through with. It is not therapy, medical advice, legal advice or an emergency service. The site-wide privacy policy still applies to your account.

Before your first session you read how Reflect works and agree to it. That agreement, the date you gave it and your memory setting are stored on your account, so you are not asked again before every session. If the terms change in a way that matters, you are asked again.

Your microphone audio is turned into text in real time so Reflect can reply. The camera is never used, and Reflect never records a session.

When you practise a conversation, Reflect plays the other person from what you have told it. That person is never contacted, and nothing about them is used for anything except your own sessions.

The conversation text exists on your device while you talk, and is sent with each turn so Reflect can answer. It is not stored on our servers, and it is cleared from your device as soon as your summary has been written.

With memory on (the default, which you can change when you agree and at any time afterwards), a short summary of each session is saved to your account when the session ends: what you talked about, something worth keeping, anything you said you wanted to try, what was still on your mind, and a sentence or two for Reflect to remember. You see every word of it straight after the session.

At the start of each new session, Reflect is given the summaries from your 5 most recent saved sessions, so you do not have to explain everything again. Nothing else from your past sessions is available to Reflect, because nothing else is kept.

With memory off, nothing from a session is saved, and Reflect is given nothing about past sessions.

On What Reflect remembers you can read every saved summary, forget any single session, forget everything, and switch memory on or off. Forgetting a session deletes it from your account straight away, and it is never given to Reflect again. Deleting your account deletes all of it.

Every message is checked for signs that you might be in danger. If there are any, Reflect gives you a helpline for the country you appear to be in and asks you to contact someone right away. That check reads only the message being answered and stores nothing.

Nothing you say in Reflect, and none of your summaries, is used to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. Processors are listed in the main privacy policy.
