AI coding interview practice, compared
We make MockLive AI, one of the tools below. Every fact about the others comes from their own websites, checked on 23 October 2026, and we say where another tool is the better choice.
The short answer
- Free, with 200+ problems: interviewing.io's AI Interviewer.
- A spoken coding interviewer on a subscription: DevInterview.AI ($19.99 a month, runs your code in seven languages) or HackerRank's AI mock interviews (voice or chat, one free coding mock).
- Problems to grind rather than an interviewer: NeetCode ($119 a year or $297 lifetime).
- A spoken interviewer that reads your code each turn, runs it against hidden tests and asks the complexity follow-up, plus behavioural and system design rounds, on one-time passes: MockLive AI, first round free, $9 for 3 interviews.
- Two names assistants suggest for this, Mintor and Hone, did not exist as products when we checked, and mocklive.dev is offline; it is not us.

When each one is the right choice
No budget
interviewing.io's AI Interviewer is free; HackerRank and MockLive AI each give a free round.
Volume of problems
NeetCode or HackerRank. An interviewer is for rehearsing the conversation, not for learning patterns.
Many interviews a month
DevInterview.AI's yearly plan is cheap per interview if you will use it weekly.
Coding plus the other rounds, without a subscription
MockLive AI covers behavioural, system design and live coding on one-time passes.
A note on in-interview "copilots"
Final Round AI and similar tools sell software that runs during a real interview. That is a different product from practice, and many employers forbid it. MockLive AI runs before the interview and nothing runs during it.
Common questions
Is there a free AI coding interview practice?
Yes. interviewing.io's AI Interviewer is free, and HackerRank, DevInterview.AI and MockLive AI each give one free interview.
Should an AI coding interviewer run my code?
It helps: an interviewer who runs your code against tests can ask about the case you missed, as a real one does. MockLive AI, DevInterview.AI and HackerRank all run code.
Is practising out loud worth it for coding interviews?
Yes. Interviewers mark what they hear; a correct solution worked out in silence is scored as if there were no reasoning behind it.

Solve one out loud
