MockLive vs SmallTalk2Me
The best-known AI IELTS Speaking simulator, used by millions: you speak through all three parts and get an estimated band with feedback.
What SmallTalk2Me is
An AI English-speaking platform with an IELTS Speaking simulator covering Parts 1, 2 and 3. You speak into your microphone, the AI analyses your answers, and you get an estimated band from 1 to 9 with feedback on fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. It also offers general English practice and CEFR level tests.
How practice happens
A simulator you speak into, in the browser. Their page describes speaking into your mic to simulate the whole exam, with your answers analysed by AI, and recommends at least fifteen minutes of speaking for an accurate result.
How it is priced
Their IELTS page states a free version of the mock test with an estimated band and AI feedback. A paid Pro plan exists; we could not find its price published on their site on 21 September 2026.
In their own words

What SmallTalk2Me is better at
Answered honestly, because a comparison page where the author wins every row is an advert and reads like one.
- Scale and track record. Their site states more than 2.5 million learners in over 125 countries, which is far more real-world use than MockLive has.
- Breadth beyond IELTS: general speaking practice and CEFR level tests, useful if the exam is one goal among several.
- A free version that already returns an estimated band and feedback, so you can practise often without paying.
Where the two genuinely differ
| SmallTalk2Me | MockLive | |
|---|---|---|
| The examiner | A simulator: you speak through the parts and your answers are analysed. | Oliver, a live voice examiner: he asks, listens, hands you the cue card, waits out your preparation minute and pushes you in Part 3 on what you actually said. |
| The report | An estimated band with feedback on fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. | A band for each of the four official criteria, pronunciation measured from your recorded audio, the full transcript and every answer replayable. |
| Billing | Free version, plus a Pro plan whose price was not published on the pages we checked. | First full test free, then a one-time pass of 20 Speaking tests valid for a year. Nothing renews. |
| Other exams | IELTS plus general English practice and CEFR tests. | IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, the Duolingo English Test and OET, on the same voice engine. |
Which one you should actually use
Pick SmallTalk2Me if…
You want a free, widely used tool to practise often, or general English speaking practice and a CEFR level alongside IELTS.
Pick MockLive if…
You want the test to feel like sitting in front of an examiner, a voice that asks, waits and follows up, and a one-time price rather than a subscription.
How to check this
Everything above about SmallTalk2Me was read from their own site on 21 September 2026. Pricing and features in this category change without announcement — if what you see there differs from what you read here, theirs is right and ours is stale. We would rather you tell us than assume we meant it.
Other comparisons
Sit one before you compare specs
Your first Speaking test is free: all three parts with a live examiner, scored on the four official criteria, every answer replayable. That tells you more about whether this suits you than any page like this one can.
