  1. Walk me through a board or system you debugged that would not behave.
  2. How do you decide between analog and digital sensing for this problem?
  3. Explain a power budget and where you would cut first under constraint.
  4. What happens when this signal crosses a long cable in a noisy plant?
  5. How do you validate EMC before you have a full prototype?
  6. Tell me about a spec you pushed back on with the customer or PM.

The gap between these two is most of your score, and it is easier to see than to be told.

The final bug and the component swap. It proves you fixed something, not that you can diagnose under uncertainty.

What scores

Symptoms, measurements, hypotheses eliminated in order, the instrument reading that split the problem, and what you added — test point, filter, firmware check — so the next failure is faster to find.
