“—” means the study gives no PTE score for that band: so few IELTS candidates reach 9 in Speaking and Writing that no PTE score lines up with it. Below PTE 24 (IELTS 4.5) the study gives no alignment.

What PTE score is equal to IELTS 7?
Under Pearson's July 2025 concordance, IELTS 7.0 lines up with a PTE Academic Overall score of 63–70. For each skill: Listening 58–63, Reading 59–64, Speaking 76–82, Writing 69–76.
What PTE score is equal to IELTS 6.5?
IELTS 6.5 lines up with PTE 55–62 Overall. The often-quoted "58–64" comes from older tables that the July 2025 study replaced.
What PTE score do I need for IELTS 6?
IELTS 6.0 lines up with PTE 47–54 Overall, and IELTS 5.5 with 39–46.
What is PTE 65 in IELTS?
A PTE Overall of 65 aligns with IELTS 7.0, which covers PTE 63–70. PTE 79 aligns with IELTS 8.0.
Why is the PTE score for the same IELTS band different in each skill?
Pearson matched the tests by equipercentile equating: it finds the scores reached by the same share of candidates on each test. IELTS candidates rarely score 9 in Speaking or Writing, so the PTE ranges for those skills sit higher, and no PTE Speaking or Writing score aligns with IELTS 9.
Can I use this to meet a university or visa requirement?
Use the institution's own published PTE requirement if it has one: many universities and visa programmes set separate PTE minimums. A concordance is an approximate relationship between two tests, not a guarantee for one person, which Pearson itself says.
