  1. Do you live in a house or a flat?
  2. Who do you live with?
  3. How long have you lived there?
  4. What is your favourite room?
  5. Is there anything you would change about it?
  6. Do you have a garden or a balcony?
  7. What can you see from your window?
  8. Would you prefer to live somewhere bigger?
  9. Is it easy to get to the shops from where you live?
  10. Did you help choose it?

  • “what can you see”这个问题是送分题:纯粹的描述,而且没人准备。
“on the third floor”、“in the corner”、“at the back”、“opposite the kitchen”——这些都在被计分。

a two-bedroom flat

we're on the third floor

it overlooks

spacious

within walking distance

it does us fine

Do you live in a house or a flat?

A flat, on the second floor of a converted Victorian house, so it has the high ceilings and also the heating bill that goes with them. There are three of us. It's smaller than I'd like but it's a ten-minute walk from work, which I've decided is worth more than an extra room.

What is your favourite room?

The kitchen, which surprises me because it's the smallest. It gets the morning light and it's where everyone ends up — we have a perfectly good living room that nobody sits in. I do most of my reading at the kitchen table, which probably says something about how much I like being near other people while ignoring them.

Would you like to move somewhere else?

Eventually, yes. I'd want more space and ideally some outdoor space, even a balcony. But not for a couple of years — moving is expensive and I'd rather save properly than move somewhere marginally better. So it's a plan rather than something I'm actively doing.
