  1. How do you usually travel to work or college?
  2. How long does the journey take?
  3. Is public transport good where you live?
  4. Do you prefer to drive or take the bus?
  5. Has traffic got worse in your city?
  6. Do you enjoy the journey or is it wasted time?
  7. What could be improved about transport where you live?
  8. Do you ever walk or cycle?
  9. Is it expensive to travel around your city?
  10. Do you use taxis or ride-hailing apps?

“The 8:15 is always full”比“transport is not very good”好。
  • “Has traffic got worse”

the commute

door to door

rush hour

it's a nightmare

a change at

gridlocked

How do you usually travel around?

Mostly on foot or by train. I don't drive, which people find surprising at my age, but I live somewhere where it would be an expensive inconvenience — parking alone would cost more than my transport does. For anything outside the city I use the train and complain about it like everyone else.

Is public transport good in your city?

It's good in coverage and unreliable in timing, which is a frustrating combination. You can get almost anywhere without a car, and you can't confidently say when you'll arrive. The trains are fine; it's the buses that are supposed to be every ten minutes and are either every ten or every twenty-five.

How could transport be improved where you live?

Frequency more than anything else. New lines get announced because they're visible, but the thing that would change my daily life is knowing a bus is coming without checking. Cheaper fares would help too — it's expensive enough that people drive when they shouldn't, which makes the traffic worse for the buses.
