- Do you read much?
- What kind of books do you enjoy?
- Do you prefer paper books or reading on a screen?
- Did you read a lot as a child?
- When do you usually find time to read?
- Do you read newspapers or news online?
- Have you read anything interesting recently?
- Do people in your country read as much as they used to?
- Do you ever reread books?
- Would you like to read more?
- “Did you read as a child”要用一般过去时和“used to”。
an avid reader
I'm not much of a reader”
get through
I get through two a month”
a page-turner
in print
dip into
I never got into it
后续问题永远是“what have you read recently”。诚实地说“I read very little, mostly news on my phone”更稳妥,也比一个撑不住的编造说得更流利。
Do you read a lot?
More than I did, because of my commute. I get about fifty minutes each way where there's nothing else I can usefully do, and that's turned into two or three books a month without any deliberate effort. It's the only habit I have that I didn't have to build.
What kind of books do you enjoy?
Mostly novels, and increasingly ones where not much happens. I used to need a plot and now I'd rather spend three hundred pages inside somebody's head. I read some history as well, though I've noticed I buy far more of it than I finish.
Do you prefer physical books or e-books?
Physical, though I accept that's partly sentimentality. I read faster on paper and I remember where things were on the page, which I don't get from a screen. I use an e-reader for travel purely because of weight, and I always slightly resent it.
