- What is the best age for children to start school?
- Should children be given pocket money?
- How much freedom should teenagers have?
- Do parents spend enough time with their children?
- Should children do household chores?
- Is it good for children to use screens?
- How do children learn right from wrong?
- Are children today under more pressure than in the past?
bring up
at that age
set boundaries
independence
it's a question of degree
formative years
“For a young child, I'd say… though by thirteen it's almost the opposite”本身就是一个完整的高分回答。
Are parents today too protective of their children?
In physical terms, probably, and in other ways much less than they think. Children have far less unsupervised outdoor time than a generation ago, and the evidence that the world got more dangerous is weak — what changed is the reporting. At the same time they have far more unsupervised time online, which is the genuinely unfamiliar environment. So it's less overprotection than misdirected protection: enormous care about the risk that's visible and legible, much less about the one that isn't.
What is the best age to start school?
Later than most systems do, on the evidence I've seen. Countries that start at six or seven don't end up behind by ten — if anything the reverse — which suggests the early years are better spent on play and language than on formal instruction. The complication is that school does a second job nobody says out loud, which is childcare, and that need is real and immediate. So the honest answer is that the right age for learning and the right age for the childcare problem aren't the same age.
