  1. Why do people create art?
  2. Should governments fund the arts?
  3. Is art as important as science?
  4. Should art be taught in schools?
  5. Can anyone learn to be creative?
  6. Has technology changed what counts as art?
  7. Do people appreciate art less than they used to?
  8. Is public art worth the money?

  4. “Can anyone be creative”

in the broadest sense

subjective

enrich

a matter of taste

accessible

it grows on you

退回到“art is subjective, everyone has their own opinion”然后停下。

Should governments fund the arts?

Yes, on grounds I'd want to state carefully. The economic argument gets made most often — that arts funding returns more than it costs — and it's probably true and I think it's a trap, because it invites the reply that something else returns more. The better argument is that a lot of worthwhile work can't survive a market at any scale, and a society that only produces what pays produces a narrower range than its people actually want. That's a case for subsidy that doesn't collapse the moment someone does a better spreadsheet.

Is creativity something that can be taught?

The craft can be, certainly, and I think the mystique around it does damage. Most of what looks like inspiration from outside is a large amount of practice plus a tolerance for producing bad work on the way to good work. Both of those are teachable. What might not be is the drive to keep going without external reward, which I've never seen anyone successfully instil in someone who didn't have it. So: the skill yes, the appetite probably not.
