Describe a piece of technology you find useful.
You should say
- what it is
- how often you use it
- what you use it for
- and explain why you find it useful
can't do without it
user-friendly
it does the job
saves me a great deal of time
a battery that lasts
obsolete
The piece of technology I'd choose is a pair of noise-cancelling headphones I bought about four years ago, which is a dull object to describe and has changed my daily life more than anything else I own. They're over-ear, they're black, they're scuffed on one side where I dropped them on a platform. What they do is fairly simple — they produce silence on demand — but the effect of that has been disproportionate. I commute about fifty minutes each way on a line that is genuinely loud, and before I had them I'd arrive at work already tired without understanding why. I use them for concentration too, often with nothing playing at all, which people find odd. What I'd say about them is that they didn't give me a new ability so much as remove a constant small cost I'd stopped noticing. I think a lot of good technology works like that. It's not the exciting kind, but I'd replace them the same day if they broke.
- “Remove a constant small cost I'd stopped noticing”
- 过去完成时自然出现:“I'd arrive already tired”“I'd stopped noticing”。
- how technology has changed daily life
- whether society is too dependent on technology
- the effect of technology on human relationships
Describe a gift you received that you liked.
Describe something you bought recently that you are happy with.
Describe an item of clothing you like to wear.
Describe a photograph you like.
Describe something you made yourself.
Describe an app on your phone that you use often.
