Describe a skill you would like to learn.
You should say
- what the skill is
- how you would learn it
- how long it might take
- and explain why you want to learn it
pick up
from scratch
get to grips with
it's never too late to
put in the hours
I'd be lucky to
中间两个要点是“how”和“how long”。
The most useful skill I've learned is touch typing, which is an extremely boring answer and I'd defend it vigorously. I learned it at about twenty-three, deliberately, using a free website and about twenty minutes a day for six weeks. It was genuinely unpleasant — you get much slower before you get faster, and there's a stretch of about a fortnight where you're worse at your own job. What makes it useful isn't the speed exactly. It's that the typing stopped being a thing I was doing. Before, some part of my attention was always on the keyboard, and now the words go from the thought to the screen without a stop in between, which has changed how I write more than any amount of advice about writing. I'd say I've saved a genuinely large number of hours, though the real gain is the attention rather than the time. I recommend it to people constantly and almost nobody does it, because six weeks of being worse is a hard sell.
- “The words go from the thought to the screen without a stop in between”精确而令人难忘地描述了一个内心过程。
- “Six weeks of being worse is a hard sell”
- how people learn new skills today
- the role of technology in learning
- whether some skills are becoming obsolete
Describe a sport or physical activity you enjoy.
Describe a hobby you have taken up recently.
Describe a meal you like to cook or eat.
Describe something you do to relax.
Describe a journey you make regularly.
Describe something you do to stay healthy.
